John Dawson (1983-1988) 26th April 2017

My parents chose Rugby purely because of Bob and the positive spirit he and Gill had created in Michell. Thank you for always being supportive, for inspiring and for saying an immediate yes when I asked - each term - to take on the role of my "shadow tutor" and guide me through my school report. My assigned tutor never knew but Bob always had time. If ever a man epitomised Kipling's "If" poem, it was Bob Montgomery. Every line, every word. I live in Hong Kong so I am sorry I will not be able to attend the funeral. I owe a lot to the never-give-up spirit that Bob instilled in me. My prayers are with the family at this difficult time. Legend is an often over-used word, not in Bob Montgomery's case. RIP.
